Free dinner..
Last night myself and a friend were out ... after checking out a pub or two, we strolled by a Chinese Restaurant – and to our surprise it was still open and serving at 11.00pm – so we decided to get a bite to eat .. (Was better than the other option of Abrakababra! ;)
We were seated at a table beside 3 guys... Anyway... to cut a long story short – when we were finished eating and asked for our bill, the waitress informed us that the gent at the other table had paid for our meal!!
..Has this ever happened to anyone else? What does it 'really' imply?

I think you need to expand on the 'cutting a long story short' bit. What exactly happened to cause a gent to pay for your dinner?

Yeah I agree with Valve-head, how come you used the "to cut a long story short" line right at what could be the most interesting part of this story? Please make this short story long!
