Some Lessons from the School of Life..

Was forwarded this recently...
  • Know yourself – Be honest with yourself
  • Define Yourself – If not you will never be comfortable with who you are.
  • Know the difference between “I can’t” and “I won’t.”
  • Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
  • When you say, "I love you," mean it.
  • When you say, "I'm sorry," look the person in the eye.
  • Believe in love at first sight.
  • Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.
  • When you lose, don't lose the lesson
  • Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; and Responsibility for all your actions.
  • Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
  • When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
  • Spend some time alone.
  • Never take yourself so seriously that you cannot laugh at your self.
  • Talk slowly but think quickly, and learn to listen more than you talk (that is why we have two ears and one mouth)
  • Know what you know. Know what you don’t know
  • Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.
  • Accept that change is a constant. Be a change agent
  • Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams don't have much. Dreamers never quit and quitters never dream.
  • Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.

With humorous intent and no malice.

• Know yourself – At least enough to know when you’re lying.
• Define Yourself – If not others will do it for you.
• Know the difference between “I can’t” and “I won’t.” – Failing that, try saying ‘I shan’t’. It will confuse the hell out of people
• Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk. – of catching debilitating diseases
• When you say, "I love you," mean it. – but if you can’t say it, for God’s sakes don’t say ‘I really like you’
• When you say, "I'm sorry," look the person in the eye. – but don’t go with the moment and offer a refund.
• Believe in love at first sight. – but it is always worth taking a second look, just in case.
• Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice. – it might be the breathing through the teeth that does it.
• When you lose, don't lose the lesson – that explains why those who find winning so easy are such complete pains.
• Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; and Responsibility for all your actions. – hmm…can’t argue with that.
• Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship. – and never let a little friendship get in the way of a great dispute.
• When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it. – some of those steps may involve carrying a shovel.
• Spend some time alone. – perhaps best not to do this while staring into the sea.
• Never take yourself so seriously that you cannot laugh at your self. – just try not to do it when alone.
• Talk slowly but think quickly, and learn to listen more than you talk (that is why we have two ears and one mouth) – but some people have overcome this by making use of another opening
• Know what you know. Know what you don’t know – and acknowledge that there are things you never knew you didn’t know.
• Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want. – deaf, broke people in comas please take note!
• Accept that change is a constant. Be a change agent – my days with the agency are behind me now. I can’t take credit for all of Eastern Europe.
• Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams don't have much. Dreamers never quit and quitters never dream. – and those who don’t sleep all they want never get to dream enough to find out what their dreams were!
• Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely. – If you love too deeply and passionately, one of you might not get out of it alive at all.
